Hello, you might remember my other thread where I asked for advice on a new rig.

Well, I got all the parts and put it all together without too much fuss... aaand there's a problem.

The system won't boot. No bios, no beeps, nothing. The fans run, and they're all connected to the motherboard. Other power lights and things also turn on, but nothing else happens, just a blank screen.
I've tried the monitor on another computer and it works fine, so it's not that. The graphics card is getting power and mounted properly, I've reseated the ram in a couple of different configurations to make sure there was nothing going on there.

I've done the keyboard trick, connected keyboard, but it doesn't turn on, can't make num/caplocks turn on etc.

So... that leads me to two possible problems: CPU is busted for some reason: motherboard is busted for some reason but can still funnel power around to make the fans work etc.

Neither of those sound great to me, so I was wondering if maybe anyone can suggest anything I've missed, any way to diagnose the exact problem etc.

Well, looks like I messed up big time. The CPU didn't mount right initially and the damn thing is now bent on one corner...

This is my 5th big build and this is my first major mistake... shame it had to be such a big... and expensive... one...

Still, we live and learn.

Thanks for helping me out guys, no accounting for user error though.

The corner of the CPU itself (the thin wafer bit, not the metal), the base that contacts the motherboard pins.
This was a really big screw up. It'll go down in history (maybe).

I don't think there's any real damage to the motherboard itself... but I dunno.

An i7-4770k... yup... this is going to be expensive...

Gore! Honestly, it's not that impressive.
Spoilered for size.

Yup... those corners aren't contacting anything ever again (and I've just given up and am touching the contacts with my thumb there)
