Hi, i'm not here to ask for opinions as to choosing the Q9450 or an E8400/E8500, but, which would you recommend for the rest of my system, i.e. would the Q9450 be a little "too" powerful?

Intel E6400 - upgrading to Q9450/E8400 or E8500
2GB OCZ Platinum XTC Revision RAM
500GB Samsung Spinpoint HDD
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3 mobo
460W Coolermaster eXtreme power PSU
AC Pro Freezer 7
nVidia 8800GT

What the question really is, is do you think a Dual Core would "fit in" better to my system than a quad?

I play games on my pc mainly, with the odd college work, CV, internet browsing now and again. I would like it to last a while, and am also keen on getting one not to Overclock.

What is with the Q6600 guaranteed @ 3.3GHz too??
How does that work?

Right! I would love to get my hands on a QX9650 but that's a little too expensive

How about from the perspective of overclocking, as it's something i will do, but preferably not. I can do it, i just like to stick it in and use it

reyt, well I think i can get it to 3GHz easy from looking round on the internet. I'll just get the standard cheaper one
