Rig running slow and freezing

So at the title says my computer has just this week seemingly started running a lot slower than normal, Sometimes starting up basic programs like snipping tool takes like 10 seconds, It's fine on startup and doesn't seem to take any longer than normal.

When playing games of which i only really play 2 (WoW and TF2) it has started to freeze up for a few seconds at a time, and a few times in TF2 has crashed the game completely.

It's not destroying my ability to play games or do everyday things but it's an entirely annoying problem.

I've ran a full virus scan, de-fragged, ran a registry cleaner and ran malwarebytes.

This is at the point where i'm out of experience, I have had the luck that i've never encountered a problem like this before.

Setup is:

Win 7 64bit
G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Radeon 5850
AMD Phenom II X3 720 BE
Asus M4A785TD-V Evo Mobo
Seagate Barracuda 7200 1TB

Nothing is overclocked and i clean the case of dust quite regularly.

Any help as to what i can try next to try to resolve this problem would be really appreciated.

I can't really say for sure at this moment because i haven't been running any resource monitor in background to check when it does go slow.

I will now and see what it comes up with.

[Edit]
I just tried to start up PC Wizard 2009 which i normally use and have done for about a year and before it's never caused any slowdown problems but this time it decided to go slow.

My RAM usage went up to 3.6GB and CPU peaked at 55% usage just starting up that program.

Really don't know how relevant this info is as i said before i'm out of my experience zone now.

Sounds like theres some osrt of malware running in the backgroundwhich is eating up your resources, try a scan for that

He said in the first post that he's run a virus scan, and malwarebytes.

If you have a look in task manager, find which programs are using the most RAM, and check they're ones you want. This is because as your RAM usage reaches it's maximum limit, your PC will start using your HDD as temporary RAM (called your page file, and is much slower than using RAM) which will cause slow performance.

missed the malware bytes bit sry, saw the virus scan n defrag, still it does sound like something along them lines, there a secondary chcker you can use just in case?

Run "hijackthis" and save to a text file.

Then boot in to Safe mode and do the same but another text file.

Compare the two text files leaving you a list of difference. Google each of the differences and eliminate any genuine background tasks, drivers etc.. Those that look suspicious maybe causing your problem.

Might also maybe worth checking your BIOS making sure its not on a safe setting rather than optimal.

This is the weird thing i've been running task manager/resource monitor in background and at times when it seems to be going slow the RAM usage goes up to like 75% but the task manager is not showing any program using any extra ram to make up for the amount being used.

It seems like the RAM is being used by nothing but this isn't all the time.

I also ran seagate seatools to check the HDD and it passed on both short and long tests.

I had a similar problem once, only way i got it out was to fresh install of windows 7 and then the elimination process began ,as i installed my programs i finally caught the culprit.
I hope this helps!

Ye system restore was my next thought then a complete fresh install if i still have a problem.

I've been thorugh every software option i can think of.

I tried the hijackthis idea that Admiral Huddy suggested but that has shown up nothing out of the ordinary aswell.

As i said before i am out of my realm of experience here but would re-seating the RAM, CPU or GFX be worth a try at all?

[EDIT]

Is it normal for kaspersky's AVP.exe to be peak at 95% of CPU usage?

Not if it isn't scanning.

It's not scanning, Now that i've noticed this it seems that avp.exe randomly jumps up to between 35%-95% cpu usage when its doing nothing at all.
