Hi all,

I was playing Battlefield 2 last night with a few clan members on Vent and all of a suddent my system froze, i couldn't ctrl, alt & delete to get into task manager as it wouldn't respond so i had via the psu switch. Now when i try to power up the lights / fans comes on but theres no post.

I was running the rig in sig and was overclocked. I think it may be the gfx card as i was getting a few black bits on screen now and again.

The system was still powered up when this happened so would this suggest its not ram, cpu, pus related?

I will remove ram, hdd's etc when i get home but dont think its them.

The system being powered up does not exclude any components.

When gaming the components are at maximum load and their hottest so failure is likely to occur.

It could be the PSU, memory, CPU or Vcard.

First off reset the CMOS ...

If that doesn't work

Unplug all drives and card except video and 1 stick of memory

if no boot... swap the memory.

If still no boot try a different PSU or video card.

It's pretty hard to kill the cpu since it has thermal protection.

Ok i have reset the cmos but to no avail. Ill remove all hdd's and swap memory about.

Then buy a cheap gfx card.

Sounds like RAM to me. What voltage are you using on the geil ultra? and at what speed/timings?

2.1v @ 4-4-4-12 running at 760mhz.

Strange thing is im now on my pc and its running fine:confused:

After last nights episode i unplugged the pc from the wall, left it off until now and booted it up and its fine

So dont know?

I turn my pc off at night but its allways got power to it, could that be the issue?

I dont have this problem with my main PC, but one of my secondary PCs have to be shut down and unplugged from mains or it wont boot. I think its the Mobo needs replacing, as failiers seems to be chipset related. Cant replace this one easily though as its a "funny" size.

Ok so I will keep it powered up all the time like normal and see if it happens again. If it does and i have to go through the same process then ill try un plugging it everynight. Seems odd though, thought of it like a static build up or something similar and the powering down got rid of it. Who noes.

What gets to me the most is not knowing what caused it and the fact I have been reading these forums for a long time and not had an issue myself until now.
