Hi guys,

I've had my rig for a month or two now (updated from c2d to quad etc) and the past few days ive been getting very slow startups, my storage drive complaining about not saving files (i believed my hard drive was failing, so i ordered another one on its way) and some random freezes inside windows (my storage drive is just files, why would it cause a freeze?).

Ontop of that, the blue cathode in my computer has been flickering between dim and bright every now and then. And now, judgement day.

When i turn my PC on, all fans spin 100% for a few seconds, then it all shuts down. Then they all turn on themselves and spin again for ages, before i just turn it off.

It's a relatively old PSU (Antec TruePower 430W) on a machine like this:
Q6600 @ 3ghz
3GB ram
8800GTS 512mb
74gb Raptor
500GB WD storage drive
CD/DVD drive
Sound card (M audio audiophile 192)

Has it crapped out on me or this there another issue here? Any tips? Anything i can try? The monitor stays on standby so i have no hope of getting to even the BIOS.

Cheers!

Check all the connections on your psu, well the pins inside the molexs to make sure none are bent or just making a bad connection. Especially on the cathode bit as most cathodes, have cheap/crappy molex connectors where the pins come loose or bend.

My Rig stopped powering up too. Turns out my Antec TruePower supply only supplies power for 2 years before conking out.

How do I know.. I bought a power supply tester to test all the voltages and power and looks like it isn't powering at all. When the comp does not power on it has to be either the mobo, PSU or the lead to the motherboard. Even possiblly the power outlet, are you on a power surge? try powering from the main wall outlet

Thanks for the advice guys. I've checked all the plugs and pins and everything seems fine, all connected well etc. Tried from the main wall outlet, still does naff all.

Ordered a new PSU from ocuk today, hoping it will do the job friday :)

Antec SmartPowers and non-Trio TruePowers are/were time bombs because CWT equipped them with lovely Chinese, random quality, Fuhjyyu capacitors.

Wow never knew that. Thanks for the advice, i'll stay away from Antec in the future.

I purchased an OCZ 600 Watt PSU due for friday too! Nice 3 year warranty!

I hope they are easy to install.
