A well-known online PC retailer has sent my PC back to me having repaired it. They swapped out a faulty XFX ATi Radeon HD 4890 for a XFX ATi Radeon HD 5770 (good swap?). Both 1gb.

Anyway, I turn on the PC and everything seems fine, but it can't find the graphics card. What do I do? There was no CD with the new card.

I'm sure this is basic stuff, but I haven't a clue and Google hasn't helped.

Thanks for any help!

As far as I know the 4890 outperforms the 5770, not too sure though. Did you try install drivers from ATI website?

I think the 4890 is a little faster but the 5770 has Direct X11 which the 4890 only has Direct X10-10.1

What do you mean it cant find the graphics card?

Do you mean it cant find the drivers?

Nah, 5770 is on par with a 4890, but newer, less power hungry, and DX11. :)

Never used to be,im guessing recent drivers updates have improved this for the 5770?

Yup, the original reviews were all done on day 1 drivers, and back then it was about the same speed as a 4870.

Now it's about the same as a 4890 due to driver optimisations.

Rroff and Jigger were only arguing a few days ago which was faster out of a GTX260 216sp and a 5770, the reviews linked suggested the GTX260 just edged it.

and a 4890 is definitely faster than a GTX260.
