We need a new fridge freezer. Took a look at the weekend and more or less all of them opened from the left.
The salespeople informed us that in the majority of cases this can be switched around. However the option they could provide us with was free delivery by £70 for a guy to push it into place and change the door around. Call me Mr. Picky, but £70 does seem rather a lot.
The other option is to buy and then look at switching the door myself - but fear sets in that I get one I just cannot do.

So, firstly does anyone know of any brand where there is an option of right-side opening for very little extra.
If not, any brands where as a rule it's easy to switch around which side the door opens from?

Switching the door yourself is fairly straight forward in most cases. A google search for the model you're looking at should turn something up.

Anytime I've had to do this it's been relatively straight forward to the point where it was difficult to do wrong.

The £70 isn't the expensive bit, the cost in man points is.

Based on a quick look at my fridge, I would need to undo two screws in the middle to take both fridge and freezer door off, move the bracket over, slot the doors back into place. It looks like a 2, maybe 3 minute long job.

This is for 99% of fridges/freezers

It will be a simple job, they will be similar in the way the door fixes. Can they swap the door around for you in store before delivery?

pretty much every fridge-freezer should have reversible doors these days and it takes only a few minutes to swap the way they open.

You can probably build a pc but cant reverse a door on a fridge?

Pick a model you like then look up the instructions to switch the door hinge over on the manufacturer's website before buying.

I'd imagine that'd be even more expensive (if they even agreed to it) due to having to unpack the fridge, swap the hinge over, then package it back up for delivery again.

Shouldn't have a problem if you know how to use a screwdriver.

LOL! :p

You can swap the door by changing the brackets usually not that difficult.

I seem to remember that if the appliance is laid down then you need to leave it for an hour or so to let the gas in the compressor 'settle'

Not sure if this is true or an 'old wives tale'
