Hi all,

I'm trying to find out for a friends sisters boyfriend (bare with me!) about whats involved with him giving a statement. He was caught up in a crash this evening and they are suggesting that he is party to one of the cars that caused the accident.

When he goes to give his proper statement tomorrow is he entitled to any legal advice/representation at all?

Cheers for any help.

He's entitled to take representation with him (a solicitor or even just a friend). I have sat in with a relative during police questioning in the past. As to whether he is entitled to a free solicitor is another question and one I can't answer. But I suspect he isn't unless under arrest.

iirc your entiled to one, you should be offered on when he turns up, but if not I wouldnt worry about it unless he ran down a nigerian baby :D

He's not been arrested. I don't really want to go into specifics but he was caught up in an accident (occured behind him). The person who crashed into another car was seen to be hanging off his bumper just before the crash and as such he's involved I guess.
