Evening all

I don't know if my PC is way out of date or I have some sort of issue's but I think I may need to upgrade my entire system.

I currently have this setup.....

Q9550 3.2 GB CPU
ASUS Striker II extreme
8gb Crosshair Vengance Ram
2 x GTX 560ti ASUS Direct CUII
2 x Raptor 150gb HDD,s in Raid

My current rig seems to sometimes struggle with games like starcraft (if the screen gets busy with units fighting) Also Farcry 3 seems to stutter in places.
is it time for a complete rig or upgrade the current system?

Try overclocking the existing CPU? add a better heatsink to do so (that can then be also used on a new CPU/board upgrade later)

when was the last time you did a full reinstall of windows etc?

reinstall windows

then try and update your bios to latest version etc

and update windows / patches etc

search for new drivers and update

then add programs etc

your system should be plenty fast enough for games in question, if then it's still a bit slow, over clock cpu

but to change the system i dont think its needed tbh yet

games like farcry seem to run better on single cards for some, seems to not to be fully patched for sli, many have same errors, but not all, latest patch and ati drivers fixed mine, but im guessing it didn't work so well for nvidia and sli users, didnt work for all crossfire users either

last reinstall ect was about 15 month ago

i re install every few months off an image, i update the image every 6 months or so, that way i dont have to put back on all patches/drivers and apps etc.

your more than ready

your cpu is on the ok side
your m/b is a good one for its day
your memory is fine
you hard drive are raptors, and as good as they get for standard drives, 10k is still the quickest and your in raid0 as well
your cards are fast enough for most games, and will last this year out
