What card to buy for £220 or under......

ocuk 8800 GTX

or

HIS 3870 XT

I understand the xt will run cooler and quieter, however the GTX is faster.....however how much faster is it ?

I only play bf2 though i would like to buy crysis or possibly rent it from somewhere, and play a bit of COD4 here and there, trying to flog it though.

Currently on a x1950pro 256. and find playing bf2 on some maps like dragon islands and gulf of oman it gets really sluggish when looking through plantlife (im a sniper).

I want a card i can buy and have done with (except for overclocking it) and not need a new one 3 months later, i keep putting off upgrading as i need the money for AV ideally...miss bass!

You sure you don't have adaptive anti-aliasing switched on in CCC? I get huge drop in frame rate when looking at vegetation with adaptive AA switched on.

9600GT would do ye fine and save you some money

i would go for 8800GT or GTS 512MB personally

I dont run CCC, atleast theres no ati in my taskbar, i run rivatuner and theres no ingame settings on that either, i just run the latest drivers, and riva...

ah i did have it just set not to run, and adaptiva AA was on.

Ive set all filtering and AA to be controlled by app now, lets hope this clears things up!
