Hi,

We are looking at buying a Ring Doorbell or similar as it would be handy for deliveries when we are out. I was also wondering if these systems are the sort of thing you can add an additional camera to, for example a camera in the garage internally which would sort of double up as a security camera? Or is that not the sort of thing you can do with these?

Definitely looking at getting a Ring doorbell type device anyway, but it appears there are several different variants available? Anyone got one they can share purchase guidance on? Do you require a monthly subscription for them as well or similar?

Cheers.

Yes they are very useful, but Ring need a subscription to have any useful features. You can see here what's locked behind the subscription compared to free. I'd recommend Eufy who have all equivalent model doorbells, indoor and outdoor cameras etc... No subscription needed.

Personally have the Eufy 2k Doorbell and it's been spot on, motion sensitivity very handy too and works a treat.

go eufy. I've tried blink and it was awful, constant disconnects, painful pairing process etc.

eufy has been rock solid.

Cheers guys. So looking at Eufy stuff now. I wanted a doorbell camera and a camera inside the garage. I'm not sure what kit I need to buy to do this, if its even possible? Do I need a 'hub' of some sort to run a doorbell and an additional camera through? Seen quite a few different packages with various different bits of kit included but not really sure what I would need to get up and running?

I have Eufy doorbell camera and two cctv cameras.

You need one base station normally there is a bundle for the doorbell with base station, so if you have that then just buy a separate camera

You’d need :

Door bell
Home station
Camera

Go on Amazon now while their prime day is on. Some good deals. Like 2x cameras and base station. For £137

Contrary to others I have a Ring doorbell plus a ring "stick up"(I believe they are called) wireless camera you can put anywhere. I think they are great, app is good and easy to use and add new devices to and batteries last ages although wiring in the doorbell is on my never ending to do list. Yes you have to pay a yearly sub but its not much and worth it for the features and the peace of mind imo.

I have 3 outdoor Blink fully wireless cameras and they have been flawless. Purchased the Doorbell too and so far great. I have good Wi-Fi in my house so no disconnects or anything.

Another vote for blink, we have just purchased the doorbell which can be added to the 2 camera + sync unit already set up. Purchased a solar panel for one which gets some sunlight as well.

I've got a full Ring setup with camera, external siren, doorbell etc. and am really pleased with it so far. I don't mind paying the sub for unlimited cloud storage either. Much either than local.

Hi folks, apologies for the thread resurrection, I've been looking at the eufy kit again and I'm about to push the button on some.

So the 2C kit seems to be good value and gets decent reviews. Is the kit I'm looking at what I'd need and I assume it includes the 'home station' which I'm guessing is the sort of 'wireless hub' that everything links into?

Had a rethink and now I'd like 2 x external cameras, 1 x internal garage camera and the doorbell. Can't find a kit bundle that does all that but eufy appears to be designed as a modular system so should I buy the 2C kit then add a separate indoor camera and a doorbell?

2C kit can be had for around £220 online on the rainforest place then the doorbell is about £99 and an indoor additional camera £40.

Once you have the hub the system is very modular, so you can add further devices as and when they come on offer, which is quite often. I have the 2k doorbell, a EufyCam2 and 2C all connected to the homebase. There are also standalone cameras that don't need the homebase, but I've not bothered with those as I have the hub.

Just setup the Blink doorbell and an extra camera at Gma's house as she swears someone was braying on her door int he middel fo the night.
Dead easy to setup, good quality image and audio too

Hi all, I've just purchased the following online:-

  • Eufy Cam 2 Pro 2K WiFi Security Camera System with Homebase 2 - 2 x Cameras
  • Eufy Video Doorbell 2K Add-on

Looking forward to getting it all up and running over the weekend. I'll pick up an indoor camera, possibly one of the 'pan and tilt' ones for my garage, soon.

I had the complete oposite.. the home base/hub thingy took 45 minutes to setup :D then the cameras disconnected every 20-30 mins and would not reconnect without a restart. This was like 3m from the station too! Eufy had no such problems funny enough.

Eufy system working perfectly, lots of flexibility within the app to control it all and adjust things, very pleased with it so far.

Just wondering, does anyone know if you can buy 'wedge' type wall mounts to increase the angle of coverage? The doorbell came with a wedge mount so I assume you can buy camera ones somewhere?

Hi all, glad to report that the Eufy kit I bought is still working perfectly. I wondered for those who have Eufy kit, do you know if its possible to essentially 'mix and match' camera units? An 'addon' eufyCam 2 Pro camera to match the two I already have is around £120 but they do less expensive ones with 1080p resolution. Considering adding another camera to an area to the rear of the house but don't really need 2k resolution for it. I presume as long as the camera concerned which was added was Homebase2 compatible, it will simply link up on the wifi and show up within the app?

Cheers.
