My 360 recently had the ring of death and after many days of trying to fix the problem i finally managed to fix it but onlly for 30 mins and now its dead again sooo ****** off 3 days well spent. has any one else had hardware failure on there 360 and actualy managed to fix it? if so pls share your secrets.

the towel trick worked on mine for about a day. I tried sorting the cooling out as well which helped for a little while. Whatever I tried, the problem kept coming back. Mine had been back to MS for repair for the same reason when it was still in warranty.

Gave up and sent it to http://www.gtelectronics.co.uk/. £55 and one week later I've got it back and all seems well so far. They guarantee their work for 6 months so even if I only get that much I'll be happy.

Sorry to hear all the hardwork and time wasted. I remember someone here posted that he enjoys fixing his xbox360 as it gave him the satisfaction. I totally disagree with his thinking and i'm sure you can prove him wrong.

Hope you get it fixed soon. I think you should sell it and buy a core version since it's cheap nowadays. and when the 12 months warranty is up then sell it again and buy a new one. rather than going thru all the hassle of fixing it and time wasted or try to send it to repair bla bla bla.

You have to be kidding right? MS should make these boxes last more than 12 months. Just because it comes with a 12 month warranty does not mean it's fine for it to fail at that point. 12 months is not an acceptable length of time for a console to last and a court would also agree :D
Mine is now around 15 months old and if it fails now i'll be straight on the phone for MS to repair it.
