Ringconn Gen2

@mattyj1085 Did you ever buy one?

My wifes been looking at the Oura Ring 4 to help with pacing throughout the day to manage energy due to disability. The Oura ring seems like the standout package, but the Ringconn Gen 2 comes in lighter/smaller which is a big selling factor. Main concerns for me are the app/insights

What are pros and cons of smart rings? Do people think they'll be a mainstream success?

I think they will.

There’s a lot of people who want to track metrics who also like wearing nice watches. This fills that gap without making you a weirdo with 2 watches.

Equally my wife hates wearing watches and they annoy her so this allows her to track health data in a more streamlined way.

I’m not sure they’ll ever hit the levels of smart watches but they certainly fit a certain niche.

I'd like to get a smart ring (fnarr fnarr, yakk yakk) but it's a waste of time for me, we aren't allowed to wear rings at work and that's where I'd need it the most

I'm confused who these are for really, especially under it's current guise.

Most people who want to track metrics are into sports, running etc and a smart watch is far superior for this. Id imagine most others buying are people who just want to buy it to nerd out over it?

Bought one last month to replace a Whoop. I like nice watches so only wear my Garmin watch for hiking, scuba and the rare occasions when I run. Have a dedicated head unit with HR strap for the bike. Recently got married too so thought I would use it as a wedding ring. Took it back to the shop after a week, utter rubbish. When flat out on the bike it gave me an average HR of 93. I picked up a stomach bug in Bali and it gave me perfect sleep scores despite the fact I was up 3 or 4 times going to the toilet during the nights. It didn’t auto detect activities like Garmin and Whoop do, you could manual start an activity in the app and it would track but HR was way off and the interface and app layout was poor.
On the plus side the sizing kit was cheap and ensures you get the right fit before splashing out and the ring itself looked good in a dark metal kind of way. Wore it to the gym and no scratches from barbells on it. Step data seemed to be ok too, obviously it picks up the incidental walking you do without your phone which is a surprising amount daily. Charge was easy and lasted a while plus no subscription is a bonus too.

I exchanged it for a Garmin Vivosmart band. It's as minimal as you can get although still has a screen with time and data on it. Bought half a dozen different coloured bands from Aliexpress to mix and match with outfits to try and get it to blend in a bit more. The Whoop app is unrivalled but if Garmin were to bring out something plain and minimalist with no sub I think whoop would be in for a big scare.

Cheers. I ended up with the Oura ring. Accuracy was fairly critical as she needs to rely on it for pacing and to tell her to rest when she might be overdoing things. Seems a lot of people in the CFS community have used them and the app looks to be the best which as you say is always the make or break element for these things.
