I've read the official thread but can't seem to see a definite error code for this:

Anything I can try to fix it without voiding the warranty?

I'll send it off next week to MS, just meant short term fix this weekend.

Thanks

Intentionally over-heat the machine by wrapping it in a towel. It can bring it back for a while. If it still won't come back, it's totally dead.

Yep. It'll switch itself off once it does overheat. Let it cool right down for about 20 - 30 minutes then switch it back on. If it does come back, it won't last long, but it might last the weekend.

:o I was gonna say mine did this last week and the towel trick didn't work!

So off to Microsoft it went, 9 days door-to-door! :D and a month of Live free! Great service if you ask me (I was away for 3 of the days so felt even better ;)).

What!!! That sounds mental!

If you look into what causes the problem then it actually makes sense, The problem is caused in part by board warping due to heat. And so RROD occurs. By Overheating the 360 in a towel you can in some cases cause the board to warp again, and by fluke get it working again. Temporary fix obviously, as it will just carry on warping once the 360 is up and running. Xclamp, Oven heating the mainboard and applying AC paste is the BEST solution in the long term though. When out of warranty obviously.

I did the towel trick on mine but left it for about 1 hour and its been fine for about a year now.

Different machines respond differently to each of the various 'fixes'. Some will last minutes, others will be quite happy forever more :).

I baked my 360 in the oven this weekend and it sorted out the 3 red light issues :) There's an xclamp thread here. Have a read through that for the information.
