I just wondered if anyone knew whether there was an app which could make your iPhone ring when it is on silent mode - so you can try and find it when you have left it somewhere ?

Can't believe it's not been pointed out already, but there's an app called 'Find My iPhone' on the app store. Install it and sign up and not only can you locate your iPhone on a map any time, you can remote wipe it, display a message on it remotely and even force it to play a sound irrespective of the current volume setting.

Find my iphone is great for when your phone has disappeared down the back of the couch and you've turned it on silent wirth vibrate off and can't find it
Exactly, lose your phone down the sofa or whatever, go to computer and you can make the phone ring remotely amongst other things
irrespective of whether or not the phone is set to silent

Like you, I'm getting increasingly tired of that being the case for virtually everything. Roll on the 5.
My wife has it installed and working on her iPhone 3! So unless a very recent update has rendered the software unusable for older iPhones, then I'd say it's a safe bet that it'll work on at least 3/3GS/4.

Huh, that's handy. The website only mentioned 4th gen kit working. I'll have to check it out.
