RIP 980ti

Me too. 980ti died about a month ago. Short circuiting so glad my PSU saved the rest of the system.
I think, I hope the rest of the system is ok. Going to reach out and see if any of my mates have an old card knocking about so I can test it. It is old though 2600K, 16gb 1600mhz Corsair Dominator Ram. So it has has a massive run and hours and hours of use. Was lucky enough to get an SX earlier in the year so I can play some titles cross platform on gamepass. But I am definitely geared up for new system now as have alway been a PC Gamer/User.

I have a dead MSI 1070 quicker silver here, died about a year ago and I tried to be nice to my friend and let him lend have a spare 1070ti I had.

It was just a guess but I guessed right, dead gpu. Proved by resetting bios and using the iGPU.

Got there and he didn’t have the psu connections for it 1070ti. Lucky for him and me I swapped it for a 1080 that was in my girlfriend’s system instead. Glad I got to keep the 1070ti in the house tbh.

A year later prices are through the roof and I finally sold it to him for 300. I’ve had 1/3 of the payments so far! But no longer have a gpu for pass through when needed. Just waiting for a new gpu myself and I’ll have that option back.

edit - I’ve run my cards for longer than him in hours, he used to work 4 on 4 off. So it’s a shame really it won’t have been used half as much as the cards I had.

If you are after a whole new build your best bet is actually probably just a pre made at the moment. Easiest way to get hold of a card.
I've also seen places selling GPU's with CPU, motherboard, RAM and cooler bundles. Might also be worth a look

Just hope my 1080 Ti holds on till I can finally get my hands on the 3080 Ti I want (whenever the hell that'll be) only spare card I have is an old 970

I've seen a few pop up in the jungle for 2k :s Filthy pricing.

I bought a second hand Gigabyte 980 TI G1 Gaming which arrived today. It hadn't gone up in smoke as the ferrite beads were still intact but they were noticeably degraded. To make sure it didn't go up in smoke in the future I de-soldered them and fixed it up with a blob of solder to bridge the second connection (they're in parallel) and now it's running perfectly.
