Man of Honour
My blissful WarThunder session was interrupted last night by a loud pop from my power supply. It's definitely long out of warranty, so I'm now looking for a replacement.
I inititally bought the PSU as an upgrade to support my watt-hungry GTX 480, and I'm aware that I currently/in the future might not be requiring the 620w I did before.
Current system spec is
i2500k
Z68 Pro3 Gen3
4GB
280X
Single SSD/HDD
Looking at a couple of calculators, this doesn't push past 500w, and when I think about it, I'm likely to be buying even less power hungry hardware in the next few years such as a 970, which apparently brings my power requirement to under 400w!
With that in mind, I've been looking around on here a little bit and on the OcUK PSU product page, and I'm definitely out of the loop when it comes to brands in favour. When I last bought it was definitely Corsair that people were batting for in terms of bang for buck, but that seems to have changed.
It seems EVGA/Superflower are now very much in favour? I'm definitely keen on getting something rated Gold or higher, and the 7 year warranty on EVGA's new G2 models seems to be pretty enticing. I believe these are based on Superflower Leadex?
Any advice you can give me? Thanks bros.
