Absolutely terrible news. The last I heard he was over the worst of this and on the way to making a full recovery.

Both Liverpool and Everton will be wearing black armbands in their games today & tomorrow. It says a lot about Ablett that he could move directly from Liverpool to Everton and then even return to Liverpool as a coach without there being any ill feeling towards him from either sets of supporters.

My friend was treating him a few months ago during the illness, and would keep telling me how nice a bloke he was, really down to earth. No doubt this has shone through in the tributes that have followed his death.

My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace. YNWA
