RIP Keith Emerson

Damn, another of my musical heroes gone. ELP were/are awesome, spent many a night drinking and listening to them, looks like another night coming on. RIP Keith.

Damn! Back when I was in my late teens, I learnt to play keyboard. Being able to play like Keith was one of my musical ambitions after my dad introduced me to the ELP music. Never got close.

One of the most awe inspiring things I've seen musically is Emerson playing an old Moog modular synth with a million patch cables everywhere.

Oh my Glob. Tragic.
Only the other day, I discovered an ELP tribute band called Noddy's puncture and was hoping to get to one of their concerts this year. They are crazy and can actually put on a good performance of stuff like Pictures from an Exhibition.

Sad times.

A sad, sad day for any prog-rock fan :(
I idolised ELP back in the 70's, I wore out my LPs they were played so often.
I have all of their albums on my PC and still play them, specially the first and Trilogy.
I think they will be getting an airing tonight.

Looks like the show that never ends does end after all. :-( We have to expect these things now, but some folk are harder to let go of than others. I was less bothered by Bowie going, to be honest, and he left bigger footprints.

A couple of weeks ago I chucked out all my old tape collection from the 70's. All those mix tapes and recordings from the Friday Night Rock Show... all those bands now slowly slipping into ancient musical history. And all those unique contributors now going too.

Getting old sucks... though it marginally beats the alternative.

Ha, I wasn't the only one that taped the Friday Rock Show then :D

Bowie hurt but Chris Squire hurt more and now Emerson is another one of my top echelon of musicians that is going to be hard to let go.
