No official confirmation yet, but tweets from Matt Johnson (The The) and Tim Pope seem to confirm it.

Probably start some arguments, but this one’s up there with Prince, Bowie, Freddie Mercury and the like in terms of contribution to music and how much they changed the face of it in the 80s.

Saddened deeply... hmph.

Very very sad, just seen a tweet from Paul Draper confirming it.

Growing up I had all the tapes and vinyl of theirs, really struggled with Spirit of Eden though, that was so far ahead of its time. Can appreciate it now.

Never a more apt title to a song

This is terrible news. I was only listening to The Colour of Spring yesterday.

I admired him as a musician and that he chose to retire from music to put his family first.

I think the last three TalkTalk albums and his subsequent solo album were all masterpieces.

This quote sums him up for me:

“Before you play two notes, learn how to play one note, y’know. And that, it’s as simple as that really. And don’t play one note unless you’ve got a reason to play it.”

RIP Mark.

Shocked to see this in the news after closing my emails. Great voice and music/videos. As said above, I admire and respected him for choosing to spend more time with his family.
RIP. :( :(

Very sad indeed about this, Talk Talk were the soundtrack to my younger years and I've been listening more recently to their LPs that I bought back in the day.

Always hoped that he would come back on the scene again with that unique voice of his and probably sell out any venue he went to.

RIP :(
