Most will remember him in more recent stuff like Mission Impossible. But for me I will always remember him as Commander Koenig from Space 1999. I loved that series as a child.

RIP

EDIT: Martin Landau - Would a mod kindly correct the title please? Thanks.

First saw him in North by North West (love this film), great actor.

RIP

Mission Impossible... as in the original 30-40 years ago, surely isnt "recent".

Honestly don't know him, sure i've seen him in something though...

I don't really know him but RIP and best wishes to his family and friends. I remember him as Bela Lugosi in the film Ed Wood.

He did for acting what a buttress does for a cathedral wall. Always overlooked but as solid as a mono chromatic backdrop to any TV show/film he was in. Sad news.

I wish they would reboot that show, it was fantastic.

They really should. Although it may not have aged as well as some people hoped, it should be remembered that it was made in the 1970's in a budget. I think it's aged well considering that.

Sadly there appeared to be a lot of political in fighting from the second episode which doomed the series. But I think it is ripe for a reboot. The Eagles are such a brilliant shape and probably not far off what they would actually need to look like.

All of the episodes are available on YouTube so I think I will start watching them again.

Was Space 1999 the one with the girls with the purple hair and fishnet body stockings, or was that UFO?

-edit was UFO

Season 1 was fantastic, classic sci-fi.

One of my fave actors. I loved him as Rollin Hand, but he also played Dr Tracer in the classic film (and one of my favourite films) Blazing Magnum aka Strange Shadows in an Empty Room aka Una Magnum Special Per Tony Saitta.

He was also in a superb tv movie called By Dawn's Early Light. Where a nuclear war kicks off, and he is the US President who gets lost presumed killed in the chaos, only for a hawkish commander to take over.
