RIP Peter Green

I read about him in 1995 that he went to some party in Bavaria, Germany, took LSD, quit the band, went mad and disappeared off the face of the earth.

It was fascinating at the time as we didn't have the internet like we do now to look things up, it was all rumour, myth, and legend.

There was a thread on some forum, maybe a FWM forum, with a band member explaining what he saw that night. Nobody ever still really knows what happened, I reckon he must have disassociated his personality, ego death, and left him somewhat mentally or spiritually vegetative.

Don't play about with drugs kids.

RIP.

Who?

The last time I saw him live was in the 90s playing at a pub called the Wheatsheaf in Stoke.
he was that far out he let the other guitarists play the solo's, was disappointing.
RIP.

Was there too. The Wheatsheaf was easily the best music venue for many miles, saw some great bands and artists play there. Will never forget Napalm Death supported by Cerebral Fix, ended up breaking my arm in the pit. But then decided to carry on moshing and walk up to the old A&E on Prince's Rd., after the gig.

Genuine "mandela effect" for me - died again?

Didn't Kirk Hammett buy his iconic les paul after his death? Weren't there two big post mortem tribute concerts at the start of the year - one for Ginger Baker and one for Peter Green where absolutely everyone - every-one - from Claptons, trough Stones to Gilmours played?

I also saw Oasis there and of course played there many times myself.
The bloke who did the PA called Wilf used to borrow my PA so he could perfect his skills with bands like Grace before he bought all his own kit.

IIRC, he bought the guitar on the advice of Jimmy Page.

Buying that guitar has bought Kirk a lot of hate from blues fans all over the world.
I think he used it for one song at one gig and then put it back to storage.
He has loaned it out to those that are worthy such as Joe Bonamassa and I think he's also let Gibson take it apart and Xray it to see why it's so special.
They always reckoned it was wired wrong and that's what got the tone.

I had heard a rumour that Fleetwood were to play on the IOW concert in 1970. They never made it to the playbills and it with regret that I did not see that lineup with Peter Green play live ever. An early loss to British electric blues.

The guitar had spent most of it's its life in the hands Gary Moore, Green wanted it to go to a good home and prompted Moore to buy it for what he originally paid for it. Moore was forced to sell it due to money problems back in 2006, I think its been in Hammetts possession since around 2014.
