I think it was that famous quote in a film called Colour of the Night, which I saw as kid. All I recall is a powerful quote "call me MR.Tibbs!". He was such a powerful actor with such screen presence.

RIP. Lots of classic roles but I first watched him in Sneakers. Will have to see that again soon.

The Defiant Ones was the 1st film I saw with him, was a Sunday evening on channel 4 must have been 91 I think and it was followed by Stand By Me
