RIP Sir Patrick Stewart

I'll always remember a drunken discussion with my best mate walking home and we were talking about who would be the X-Men a good few years before the first film was released. We didn't hesitate in both naming him but it was a great surprise to see him get the role as Hollywood can often ignore the obvious choice.

Stewart told a great story about how he got the role as Xavier. He went to meet a casting agent who handed him an X-Men comic with Professor X on the front. He looked at it and said "Why am I on the cover of a comic book?"

its still weird reading all of this , he doesnt seem to have changed for a long time

Likely down to him losing his hair young, thats something people often factor with age, so he looked older when he was younger and didnt seem to change all that much. If he'd had hair til his 50s then lost it then it would be a different story.

From Star Trek to Shakespeare, I've enjoyed watching him in all I've seen, even if I didn't understand the Shakespeare.
A great actor, and by all accounts a wonderful person. RIP.

Stewart told a story about how his first teacher at drama school told him to give up and find something else because "no one would cast a bald leading man".

The story about him getting his comb over cut off, seems like the experience gave him confidence even though at the time it freaked him out.

""I was born 87 years ago. For 65 years I've ruled as Tamriel's Emperor. But for all these years I have never been the ruler of my own dreams. I have seen the Gates of Oblivion, beyond which no waking eye may see. Behold, in Darkness a Doom sweeps the land. This is the 27th of Last Seed; the Year of Akatosh 433. These are the closing days of the 3rd Era, and the final hours of my life.""

Amazing Actor - I can't remember a role that he's played there he didn't make a massive impact RIP

RIP Captain Picard/Charles Xavier/Gurney/Leondegrance/Uriel Septim....RIP Patrick Stewart.
He was in everything from fantasy, through to sci-fi, even Studio Ghibli dubs :(

Absolute legend, and such a shame to hear he went from Lewy Body Dementia, same as Robin Williams, who was just as significant in his own way.

What a phenomenal career and an amazing actor both on stage and screen. Thank you Sir Patrick for all wonderful memories.

Sleep well, we all have the bridge and the watch.
