One of our last Battle of Britain aces passed on Wednesday aged 97.

A member of a very special generation that we are fast losing and that I, personally, still don't think we've thanked enough yet for the genuine sacrifices for freedom they made.

RIP Tom, I hope wherever you are you're strapped in behind a Merlin and flying into a sunset.
