Sad news today that Rangers legend and former Everton & Scotland boss Walter Smith has passed away at the age of 73; he had been battle illness and was in hospital for treatment early this year.

Gutted; he was the Rangers boss when I was growing up and came back in 2007 when the club called; thoroughly decent man.

I was trying to find out what it was he went into hospital for back in March but it doesn't say. I also didn't know he was suffering an illness until todays news.

It was a magical time Rangers from 1987 to 96. Souness, Smith, Knox, Mo Johnson, McCoist, Hately, Walters, Laudrup, Hustra, Wilkins, Butcher, Gough, Gasgoine and so on.
