Hi there,

Pretty new to the video encoding scene as I have had not much need before, but since buying a plasma its got me into the world of HD!

I'm using RipBot264 as that seems pretty popular encoder from what I can tell. The thing I would like to know is how to get enable the graphics card to help processing video files with RipBot264? I have also installed the k-lite codec installer package.

I don't know much about ATI stream, I guess it's part of the cat drivers so I presume everything is installed to enable it. From what I can make out it's Ati's version of CUDA? Just seems a shame that my i7 is maxed out when encoding a video file to .mvk format and the graphics card is sat there not doing much!

Any advice would be really, really appreciated.

:)

You just need to install the avivo software from ati, for some reason it doesnt come with the main driver package. Once you have it restart and it should be there as an option in the cat advanced menu.

You point to the source file then tell it how you want to rip it. Job's done.

It doesn't work on avchd or .vob files, well it doesn't for me anyway!

Seems the only use for this is if you are transcoding from say .wmv to .mp4 or something to stick on an iphone.

I'm not sure there is a program which can use gpu hardware to help transcode directly a blu ray or dvd. Maybe badaboom but thats nvidia only.
