Hi,
I have finally put my X99 rig together and am very pleased.
I am not one for extreme overclocking, even though I use a decent cooler, Noctua NH-D14.
I have the CPU running @ 4.2GHZ (42x100) 1.216v @ 32c idle & @ 50c when I ran 3DMark tests.
The results with my 2 x 760's SLI was impressive showing well over the score for a single GTX Titan
However, I seem stumped with OCing my G Skill Ripjaws4 2800mhz.
I hoped I might at least get them OC'd to 3000mhz, but the auto voltage on the Asus x99 Pro board I have wants to put 1.5v through them and they are only meant to be 1.2v and even the actual 3000mhz Ripjaws are rated a 1.35v
I've tried various ratios and setting to try to get them to run @ 3000mhz with voltage between 1.2 & 1.35
BCLK 125 x 36 = 4.5ghz CPU and a 100:133 Ram ratio , the machine booted but was unstable and I wasn't happy with the CPU temp going over 70c on load.
There are a plethora of options in the BIOS and I'm not happy to mess with them as I don't know what some do and the last thing I want to do is fry my new rig.
Do I just have to accept these DIMs are not going to OC and if they ran @3000mhz G Skill would have sold them at that speed.
After all technically 2800mhz is OC'd from the stock 2133mhz the CPU is only meant to support, so am I at the limit of this ram?
Advice is appreciated.
