So there's this board that I'm interested in, the JGINYUE B660I Snow Dream.

Has anyone got any experience with the brand?

My games machine is a sort of budget affair and I'm thinking of upgrading from its current i7-9700 to probably an i5-13500. I'm interested in this board for a few reasons -

1) It's a white Mini-ITX board, these are rare. This one actually looks quite pretty.
2) It's about half the price of any other raptor-lake capable ITX boards. Or of most other ITX boards full-stop.
3) DDR4 so I don't have to re-buy RAM.

The only thing I can find about it on the web is this, in chinese. The benchmarks towards the bottom look about OK - https://post.smzdm.com/p/a5og93dx/

So... take a punt, or play it safe?

Here's how the build looks right now, I think the white board would really add to it -

What is that screen you have there? It looks great.

Custom job, I got a 5.3 inch tri-colour epaper display from “Gooddisplay” on aliexpress, hooked it up to an RP2040-zero microcontroller board, then hooked that up to an internal usb header.

I wrote some python firmware for the controller to control the screen via SPI, and a python service on the host to pass it draw commands over USB. It grabs the temperatures from OpenHardwareMonitor.

I need to get around to publishing the code on GitHub, and making a better frame/mount. It’s looking like a good excuse to finally get a 3d printer :)

I also want to get around to rewriting the firmware in C as ‘Circuitpython’ seems a little unreliable.

I am wary of letting potentially Chinese-controlled hardware into the house but … I already have a wifi-connected Xiaomi hoover robot. And loads of hardware is made in China in one way or another. Hard to say where to draw the line.

If you do find some spare cash behind the sofa when you are moving it to the van then I'd also check it's working with 13th gen if the bios is not all that recent; that's if you're still tempted. ;)

That one blog I found - https://post.smzdm.com/p/a5og93dx/
Does talk about using it with a 13600KF, so it seems like it should be OK. Of course it may miss out on performance-related updates, which would suck.
