risky OCing 5970's?

Im wondering if the drivers are anywere near stable enough to overclock this Peice of hardware, im still getting 7-10 crashes a day depending on my usage, so Overclocking seems a bit of a dream at the moment =/ any input?

there is reports of one bank of VRMs not getting sufficient cooling with the stock cooler which is really limiting the stable OC. Can't remember where I saw it but it may be worth checking.
