Well, recently got vista and must say I'm less than impressed. Still, I'm persevering with it... One of the issues I have at the moment is that Windows Defender blocks rivatuner from starting every time windows restarts. I've been reading about this a bit and it seems the only 2 solutions are to disable UAC or disable Windows Defender!!?? Neither of which are recommended for secutiry reasons. Surely there must be a way to make Windows Defender ignore some programs (even if they are unsigned) without completely disabling it??

disable defender real-time scanning in the options for it, just let it to a daily scan, i think it'd leave riva alone then -you can set it to ignore certain programs too

you can set it to ignore certain programs too

That sounds like what I need but I couldn't find anything in the options to do this and a good googling session turned up nothing other than suggestions to turn off UAC and\or Defender.

The idea to turn off real-time scanning also sounds a bit better than turning the Defender off completely... but it still seems too "brute force." Why would I have to turn off the entire feature completely when I only want it to ignore a single program.

it'll still do daily scans, and tbh as long as you're not downloading dodgy cracks and porn in a weird way, then it's safe to disable the real-time scanner
