Rivatuner help

Ok so i have set up my fan speeds to match gpu temps
but what i am wondering is do you have to leave it running in the tray
in order for it to have an effect or does it run the fan speed profile
even if you exit the application?.
Any help appreciated.
Edit:looks like you do have to leave it running.

Yeah defo need to leave it running, you can set it to load at startup though.

Bit naff then that it cant change registry values
dont see point if its there sapping memory and resources.

Works on mine without having it running....just tick the apply at windows start up bit.
