Hi,

Just overclocked my new ivybridge-e upto 4.5ghz and my temps are really good.

Yet the chipset fan is really loud since I overclocked and I don't know what I can do about. Are there any settings that will allow me to change the fan speed of the chipset as its ruining my otherwise quiet system.

You can turn it down cant remember the setting in bios 90 or over triggers the overheat protection. You can set it lower than 90c in the BIOS under temp monitoring.

I suggest leaving the overheat at 90c, but try to keep PCH under 80c

Last, set the PCH fan for Silent Mode. You won't hear it at all, but it will move a little air and drop your temps well into safe range.

I don't understand why anyone would throw one of those stupid fans on modern chipsets.

I thought most of them were obsolete since the 2010's. I remember them being loud and failing easily.

Is your chipset really running so hot that the fan has to compensate? Maybe try adding a sidefan to your case to blow straight onto it.
