Hi all,

Basically I have CAT5e all throughout the house with outlets everywhere. However this presents a problem I did not see coming - I have a huge amount of CAT5e cables with the flap/catch on the connector broken off!

This really frustrates me no end.

So does anyone know where I can buy RJ45 connectors with a superior flap design (but still compatible with normal CAT5e sockets) that doesn't break so easily?

Thanks.

Just replace your broken ones with normal ones and stop being so rough/clumsy with them. Termination tools are just a couple of quid and standard 8p8c connectors are mere pennies.

Even the shielded ones still have a plastic clip. It's probably just as well too. If you had metal clips and you pull them too hard/trip over them they'd just break your sockets or snap the conductors instead. It's easier to replace a 5p connector than rip your walls apart.

Get boots to use if you are always snapping off the retention clips.

google finds loads with metal clips.but a lot of these look a bit special 'there are however a few standard style with metal clips and bodies out there
