im thinking about buying a power supply and im really confused which to get, i want a fully modular psu with black wires as multi coloured wires really annoy me :), im not sure which one of these psu's are better or are there any other ones which i dont know about.

I've never had any problems with the Corsair PSU's i've had in the past and they review well. Only £5 price difference or so between the two and it looks like both fulfill your needs. Don't think there's any on the "this week only deals" either so comes down to personal preference i guess!

Both probably equal; The corsair one has the ability the turn off the fan when it is on low load, so it's semi-passive. It's also being marketed as being "Specially designed for no coil whine".

I see no reason not to get it.

i think i might go with the EVGA as its cheaper plus i like the braided cables you ge with it, also the 8pin cables are red braided which will suit my colour scheme, do you think it will be very noisy?

I would go with the Corsair and that's from someone with not a very high opinion of Corsair. The RM series are supposedly built to eliminate coil whine and can deliver all of their wattage on the 12v rails. They have also been getting very good reviews.

The HEC and FSP built EVGA units on the other hand have been getting mediocre reviews (the 650w is FSP).

Not in this case. My Zalman is a FSP unit but after reading reviews on the EVGA FSP units i wouldn't touch them. The Corsair RM is a far better unit.

The only thing pulling me towards the evga is the braided cabling and the Japanese capacitors which I think is well advertised, I still have some time to decide as I'm not building my pc soon so itl probably be the RM them
