I wouldn't choose it. EVGA G2, XFX XTR, EVGA B2, GS etc are all similarly priced and better internally. Pretty much all Corsair PSUs up to AX are overpriced and for that money, a bit "meh" including RM which is often the same price as B2/GS/G2, XTR etc which are better
I would take the EVGA Supernova G2 850w anyday over a Corsair RM. It's a Superflower built unit and based on their own Leadex gold series but with no tacky led's and has a whopping 10 year warranty. There is a review here at Jonnyguru.
Do you actually need that much power though? What are your specs?
Pros:
For the most part it is very very quiet - no coil whine either.
Fully modular is awesome.
All black cables.
Simple materialistic design.
It's been flawless as far as converting AC to DC goes.
Cons:
Mine has a fan issue where it'll get too hot and have to spin the fan to 100% every 10 or so minutes during long gaming sessions. Some units will just shut down. This is a known fault by corsair who will replace the unit with a improved version. So far the RMA has been painless and free.
It's quite long.
The flat 24 pin cable can be a pain.
My current unit has 7-8 years, ELT500AWT. No issue so far nor it is noisy. I am not sure, if I am on the safe side with current PSU, that is why I am thinking about upgrade.
