I purchased an MSI R9 290 Gaming from the MM recently which was sold as an RMA replacement from OcUK by the seller.

The card has been giving odd screen glitches such as 1-2 second black screens that revert to desktop or odd screen tears.

I have tried various drivers including latest release and beta version 14.7 catalyst.
Under locked the memory.
Installed a new 850w Superflower PSU and tried several new leads.

None of this has prevented the issues.

The seller has suggested that I RMA the card to MSI but he originally purchased it from OcUK prior to his first RMA with them.

Who should I RMA the card with and what receipts etc do I need to do this.

It would really need to be dealt with by Overclockers as they were the retailer. You'd need to request your seller to raise the RMA and then post it back to Overclockers yourself.

Between all 3 parties, you may get OcUK to change the return address to you, not the original purchaser.

Does that help/make sense?

With MSI, you should not require a receipt. The length of warranty remaining on the card will be determined by the serial number on it. You can raise an RMA request via the MSI website.

That said, I'm unsure if MSI will specify that the card needs to be RMA'd via the original retailer if its within the 1st year of warranty. If not you 'should' be able to RMA it yourself. I RMA'd an MSI card recently via OcUK and the process was a very smooth one with no issues whatsoever.

Do you have a link to the MSI RMA request page?

Couple of links which may assist:-

Check THIS thread post of info on the MSI forums, links are there to the Customer Service RMA Check pages. However, you need to register the product first, HERE. This could be the sticking point if it is already registered by the previous owner and if that is the case this is where you would generally require the retailers assistance (or perhaps the previous owners?) to successfully kick off the RMA request process.

If the card was only recently RMA'd and the seller sold it on fairly quickly after receiving it as is the case with most RMA replacement components, you may find it hasn't been registered as yet, which would be a good thing from your point of view. When I received my RMA replacement card I didn't register it again in order that its new owner, when I came to sell it on, had the opportunity to register it.

FYI, in case you were not aware - the way to decipher the serial number to find out the date of manufacture/amount of warranty remaining is check the digits as highlighted in red below in this example:-

6XX-VXXX-0XXB1208037XXX

The above serial would denote the card was manufactured on 3rd August 2012 and the warranty would therefore end 3 years from the manufacturing date = August 2015. MSI provide a 3 year warranty for GPU's.

Just logged into my old MSI account and had a look through the RMA options there. Spotted this on the 'Apply for repair service United Kingdom' page form. Note what the first paragraph mentions about GPU's. You may need to contact the previous owner and have him contact OcUK. Not sure how this would all pan out. Best of luck with it though!

Cheers Draeger.

MSI don't deal with component RMAs for end users unless there are exceptional circumstances, I thought something might have changed given your post.

Apologies, I should have remembered that whilst posting my previous info. My bad.
