Hello, could someone kindly help me out with the process of an RMA? Kind of nervous overly thinking it.

I contacted support, received a response in regards to a faulty product, a message or two later and a RMA was issued. I was left with some instructions that have clearly gone above my head and a DPD shipping label attachment to return said item to Overclockers. What I don't quite understand though is how do I find the RMA number? Is this something that is supposed to be issued prior to returning it? by DPD upon accepting it or after Overclockers have processed the item at their depot? I'm confused. Another thing I'm unsure about is whether I need to include any relevant information about my original order sealed inside the package to prove who I am, to prove I'm still inside the warranty period and my contact details etc.

The more reading I do the more stressed out I'm becoming. A simple return and a set of basic instructions has turned into an overly complicated nightmare. I clearly struggle with the wording of the instructions and Googling has only made matters worse. RMA number on the outer packaging? No idea where this is, the only thing I have is a ticket ID when contacting support.

I don't know if I failed to receive one of the emails or I'm just plain dumb. Contact response + the DPD Shipping Return attachment is all I got.

From CS "I have raised an RMA (Returns Number) for you to get the item back to us, All the details have been sent to your email address, Please check that these are all correct before sending the item back to us.

Please print the Shipping Instructions and send the form in with your items to help us identify your return."

The rest of the information included in the message I either grasped or isn't relevant. I have probably posted in the wrong category too, general hardware forum isn't exactly fitting, but I couldn't find a suitable one when scrolling down. Sorry for inconveniencing you all.

For any retailer, for RMAs, you will usually need either a barcode, or RMA number on the outside of the package.

The barcode, or RMA number is often sufficient to match the item with your RMA and any relevant customer details (i.e. no need to include invoices and what not in the package).

Obviously I haven't seen your DPD label and haven't done an RMA to OCUK lately, but it is possible the label already includes the references needed.

I've only written this for information though, you should definitely follow OCUK's instructions step by step.

Might be worth having a look in your spam folder too, to make sure an email with an attachment wasn't put in there.

The RMA number would be emailed to you, in their first reponse/acknowledgement that you requested a return. IIRC a 6 digit number but it's been while since I RMA'd anything to OCUK. You can write the RMA number on a piece of paper and stick it on the box yourself, in addition to the DPD label

The DPD Shipping Label attachment has multiple barcodes present.

When a line of communication was opened between me and CS I received a 6 digit ticket Id, I thought RMA numbers would be unique and arrive separately though. Maybe that still remains the case.

I didn't receive any additional emails in my junk / spam folder, no worries though, I have until Tuesday to figure it out, popped over another email to CS seeking clarification on whether I was supposed to receive an additional email alongside the DPD Shipping Label. After reading both of your posts and Googling I think the DPD Shipping Label barcodes may contain all of the relevant information that Overclockers would need to process the RMA.

Just to be on the safe side I will wait for another CS response before posting the package. I think what had me confused was outdated information on Google searches from RMA data going back years ago, startled me a bit as did that part of the email I posted up above.

Thanks for replying.

I was missing one attachment in the end. OC had an issue with it's mailing service over the weekend apparently. The missing attachment included my contact details, the RMA number and some information about the soon to be returned faulty product.

I printed out both the shipping information and the attachment that contained both my contact information and the product details. I think that's what CS meant when they said "Send the form in with your items to help us identify your return."

It turns out the RMA number was posted on one of the DPD Shipping barcodes aswell. Ticket ID and the RMA numbers were different.

Sent the parcel off on Tuesday, delivered by Wednesday morning, DPD sent me a notification on Thursday night about them expecting a parcel, DPD then delivered me another one today, if anybody is curious over what I was returning it was an AMD Ryzen 5900X that developed a fault after 16 months. PC kept rebooting itself or crashing / freezing. PSU, storage drive and MOBO were all replaced at a cost before suspecting the CPU.

I'm surprised by how quickly this RMA was processed. I was expecting it to take way longer to get anything resolved. I'm still unclear as to what was causing the fault with the other CPU as it clearly wasn't temp related and everything had always been at stock settings.

Thanks to both OC and the forum members.
