Hi all just wanted a consensus.

I RMA'd some Corsair Dominator GT 1600 7.7.7.20 ram as one of the sticks was borked.

In return I have been sent Standard Dominator 1600 7.8.7.20.

I was expecting a replacement equal or better not a lower spec set.

What would you do in my situation?

Brgds

Matt

If your 7-7-7-7 stick is one of the older GTs that means that the chip it's based on isn't manufactured anymore. Can't be sure without knowing more of course, but that might be the issue. The Elpida Hyper chips were considered unstable so Corsair stopped using them in the GTs.

They stopped making them after the first batch were a bit wobbly. A couple of months later, Elpida rectified the situation with a "rare as hen's teeth" awesome batch......

I have a set:

Dominator GT 2000MHz 7,8,7,20 6GB Kit with the Fan, as well as the TEC cooler and waterblock.

With the TEC they do 2300+ MHz at 7,8,9,21

You aren't even going to notice the difference between 7-7-7-20 and 7-8-7-20.

Agreed. (BTW....OP...do you mean 1600MHz or PC16000 (2000Mhz?)If 1600Mhz, I'll confidently wager that your replacements will do 2000MHz at 7,8,7,20 mate, and certainly 7,7,7,20 at 1600MHz or 1866MHz

Thanks for all the info. The sticks were 1600Mhz.

Cheers
