RMA lost in the post - advice needed

I sent my dud Corsair TwinX2048-3200C2 (2GB) RAM to Corsair in the USA over a month ago. It should have arrived within 5 days of posting but hasn't so I assume it is lost. It was insured so I can claim on the insurance. Question is, do I buy another 2GB and take the risk of the RAM being found and sent back to me? I don't really need 4GB. If that happened would this sort of RAM be easy enough to sell? (I notice that OcUK have stopped selling the CAS2 version and only sell the CAS3 at the moment). What would you do?

If you are not skint just go for another 2Gb kit from OCUK or a second hand kit from members' market or auction site. Sell the corsair if it successfully went through the RMA process.

Why wouldn't it sell? CAS2 is faster so should sell for more than a CAS 3 kit, just don't expect to get anywhere near the price you originally paid for the kit.

I think the OP is worrying it won't sell as it's DDR1, and most talk on these forums is about C2D and DDR2.

Looking at an auction site you could maybe get £70 for them? I can't see the Members Market, it could be different there.

Yeah I was worried about that. Selling the RAM on after is a good idea though so I'm going for 2GB of Crucial CAS3 RAM for now. It's cheaper that way and will keep me going while the Royal Mail works out whether they're gonna find my parcel or let me claim on the insurance! Cheers for the help all.

Hope you took out extra insurance to cover it for international and best of luck claiming with RM, their normal behaviour is to waste time and try and wriggle out giving you monies.

Heh, well there's always an exception to every rule - I hope it's in my favour this time! Luckily I did take the insurance for the full value of the RAM. I'll post back when I have some more news.

Can you please send me your RMA # and contact info via PM so I can follow up on this for you. I'll see if I can locate your memory.

Hi Yellowbeard,

I would really appreciate that. Unfortunately the admins have disabled PMs on this board for ordinary members. Instead I've emailed you the details at your bellsouth email address.

Many thanks! :)

Ah, I did not realize that about the PMs. I have forwarded your information to both Tech Support and Customer Service. If you don't hear from them in a couple of days, please let me know.

We are in the process of migrating to an Oracle database and some of our tracking and processing info is behind right now.

I received an email today from Corsair RMA Support saying that although they haven't received the package they will ship my replacements today anyway. That's great service and has gone a long way about making me feel better about the whole thing! Thanks for your help, Yellowbeard! :)

I'm just glad I found your post and that we could help. We are working VERY hard to improve on our customer service outside the US. Have fun with the new memory.

Another twist to the story (good but nearly bad!)....

I wondered how Corsair would know what replacements to send out since they hadn't received my parcel. I couldn't remember if I had entered the part details when submitting the RMA so I checked the tsexpress website to see and that's the first thing they ask. Then to my shame I noticed that I'd made a very dumb mistake and selected the 1GB kit (2 x 512mb) instead of the 2GB (2 x 1GB kit). Doh! Stupid me. :( So I emailed RMA Support with a picture of the packaging and barcode, and OcUK invoice showing the correct product code and they emailed back within 90 minutes to say that they already shipped the single module. But they said, no worries we'll ship the correct memory today as well and just send back the single module when it arrives.

That's excellent service - I couldn't ask for anything more! Superb! :D
