Basically i bought a Asus PG278QR G-Sync Monitor last week, had it delivered on Thursday tried it out for 30 mins and decided it wasn't for me as i couldn't settle for a TN panel and sent it back on Friday. Boxed it up as good as i could with extra packaging around it so it would arrive it safe and sound.

Got an email back today saying "rejected, Large scratch on the base of the monitor. Rejected due to physical damage.".

Firstly there is no way i could have done this as i don't even think i touched the base of the monitor, i took it out put the vesa mount on and tried the monitor out for half an hour before boxing it back up as carefully as i could.

As far as i'm concerned it must have been like this when i received it, if they are adamant i done this what can i do if anything?

It's your word against theirs in cases like these. I would be honest and say that you never took the base of the monitor out, so it must have been damaged before.

Next time buy from a shop and ask for a demo, pay the extra, don't use online retailers as try before you buy outlets...!

If everyone did the same as you then online prices would need to go up,

sell it on MM?

if you used CC, then let your credit card company sort it

Also explore the possibility of a chargeback by your debit if you used your bank account. Also some competitors have that Google Certified Store thing. Perhaps try that if it was one of them.

Would be very appreciated if you could quickly email/trust me the name of this firm so that I never buy anything from them! :D sounds really bad

To be fair they dont know he didnt damage it!

The moral is, even if you are testing it and might return something under DSR make sure you checked it all out first and there is no damage.

Same with accessories. I once got a monitor with its remote control missing. No big deal but might have been if I had tried to return it as they would say it was missing.

Was it the company that rhymes with Scam?

Yes.

At first they wanted a 25% restocking fee which would have been about £140 then I posted on their customer forum stating my side of things and they dropped it to 15% still stating the damage was done during the time it was with me.

I've taken a hit and walked away it's just my word against theirs, 11 years a customer with them spending over £8000 in that time but I'll never place another order again.

Could have guessed it would be them to be honest, heard numerous bad reports of them over the years.

I tend to stick to OCUK and the one that's spelt a little like Area... had more dealings with the latter in total and they've always been brill.

I knew it was them.

Had a similar issue with them over 15 years ago (with a graphics card) . Seems they haven't changed.

The scammiest, scummiest company I've ever had the displeasure to deal with.

Agree. Enough said

If you bought online I think you get free purchase protection from Google Certified Shops. Never had to claim anything on that but I supposed it's worth pursuing in your situation. And again, chargeback on debit and section 75 on credit. If you feel it was worth buying from them in the first place to save a couple quid compared to other retailers, surely it is worth pursuing that 15% they're stealing from you.
