hi all, bought a E6400 from ocuk had it about weeks still in box, ive used it and it appers to be DOA as my system refuses to post and i have had the mobo and graphics tested and they work fine, what i want to know is now its outside 7 days do i contact Intel direct or go through OCUK??

cheers

Normally through OCUK I believe, send them an e-mail or call to verify :)

Are you sure your cpu is dead? I've actually never heard of a cpu completely dead on arrival...(of modern date)

yeah i know its rare but everything else has been tested and works so it only leaves the cpu, i originally thiught it was the mobo so i rmaed it and it does work, the board is still at another etailer so i cant test a new cpu in it.

have you checked motherboard compatibilty/BIOS revision? Sorry if this is stating the obvious, I had a PC recently from a customer everything was correctly wired and installed but was dead - reseated the processor and it was fine.

Yes what mobo and revision? Some 775 mobos don't support core 2 at all and some need BIOS updates or need to be a certain PCB revision to support core 2 cpus, dead cpu is very unlikely.
