RMA Replacement for an XFX 7900 GT 256MB?

Hi

I assume the 7900 series are EOL, so what can a mate of mine expect back as a replacement to his borked XFX 7900 GT 265MB? He is prepaired for a long wait, it being XFX and all!

Lol XFX oh dear!

If they don't have a 7xxx card left in they will have to give you an 8xxx part, atleast an 8600GTS I think. (tho more likely an 8800GT)

If you get an 8600 GTS for a 7900 GT, complain like mad and throw benches their way. That's a crap deal!

you know where I can find such benchies? I agree it must be the same or better, but my 7800GT to 8800GT upgrade trippled my 3Dmark scores...

To be honest i suspect XFX may have a few cards kept back for RMA swapouts so theres a good chance you will get another 7900GT

8800gt 256mb is what you should get but as said you might end up with another 7900 but it's unlikly , anything in 8600 range is a Degrade and should be refused as a replacement.

im sending back my evga 7900GT and they told me i would get a 8800GT(256mb) or a 8800GTS(320mb) or a 7950GX2 depending on stock levels when my card gets there

Whats the average wait time on an XFX RMA? They are dealing with the retailer and not directly with the customer... would that speed things up?
