I bought a Leadtek 7600gt AGP from OcUK last week. I couldn't get it to work, well it posted once but after that seemed totally dead. So I went through the RMA process and was told I was getting a refund. So I thought I'd buy a Gainward 7600GT, which works perfectly I might add. I didn't get a refund for the leadtek, I got the card back with a note saying "no Fault Found" (plus a £10+ Shipping charge) so I thought well, whatever, and tried it again. Still no joy. How can one 7600GT work perfectly and another not (the same one that works perfectly in Ocuk's test system).

I only have one chain of thought....

Just before the card died, my monitor was displaying the frequencies it was recieving on screen just before i got the "No cable" message. They displayed 10hz, 8hz, 4hz then nothing. I'm now wondering if it's possible that the VGA portion of the card is dodgy and this card only works on LCD monitors and hence would appear to work fine at OcUK HQ? I've tried two 19" CRTs (all I've got so can't test my theory) and through the DVI port with a DVI-VGA adaptor, still with no luck. Should I pop down to a local PC shop to test it or would I sound absurd? Or should I just return it anyway asking for the refund I never got? Will they refund the charges too?

Best thing is to give the shop a ring because they would be in the best position to discuss the RMA and any troubleshooting

Well if you're in London any time for a couple of days send me an e-mail (in trust) and I'll test your card.

Failing that, anyone want to lend Cairnsey their TFT?

thanks for the offer but I'll just go to the local and ask them to test it, they'll prob charge me, this card's costing me a fortune!

How old is the card? If it's under 28 days you don't have to prove it's faulty.

Please don't post mentioning OcUK - post it as "I bought a card from a (r)etailer and..."

That way we can properly discuss your options openly without fear of being shut down.

The DSR regs state that you have to notify a retailer of your intent to return the goods within 7 working days starting the day after you received the card, if that's any help?

Yes, but you can't have used it unfortunately, so the DSR doesn't count here. If it doesn't work on his system, it doesn't work and they have to take it back and give him another one. If it appears to be a system incompatibility issue (ie. the second one doesn't work either) then they should offer to let him have something else or a refund.
