I RMA'ed a 4870x2 around 4-5 weeks back and ive just recived a 4870 2gb Vapor-x back.. (just to confirm) This isnt the same as a 4870x2 is it? -_-

UPDATE: Lmao Well they have just offerd me a 5850 ... which is still slower than my 4870x2 .. and tho im tempted, ive asked for a 4870x2 still.. (hopefully ill get a 5870 out of it lol!)

I just recived an e mail back and even tho its slower im gunna take the 5850 (as i can sell it for more rather than a repaired 4870x2 lol :D

4870x2 is a dual gpu card.

4870 2gb is a single gpu with higher onboard ram.

Certainly not the same, and not an equal replacement.

No ask that THEY arange a courier or arange an agreed postage price, any insurance should be their responsability and choice since the package should never have been your responsability.

You are not to be left a PENNY out of pocket on their mistakes.

FFS -_- i bet ill have to send it back at my exspense and wait anotehr NO SWEARING 4 weeks

Ring them first.

They may admit a mistake, as 4870 2gb looks similar, when written, to 4870x2 to someone with little tech knowledge.

May have been an error on their part and they should pay the postage to rectify this.

Give them a call, be calm but firm.

Well i e-mailed them (as i HATE using the phone + being on wait at £0.20p a min is a pain in the ARSE lol i gave my RMA number form the old card. Like the guy said above i was firm but calm. I hope i get a reply soon -_-

You could also post in the forums. There is a section for this sort of thing that only OCUK staff members can read.

Unfortunatly i didnt buywith Overclockers -:( I truested another website (and been let down a lot by them) They told me they wouldnt deal with it and id have to send it straight to the makers (sapphire) Next time i buy an upgrade i deff will be buying from OcUk as ive heard the after sales is the best you can get :( i doubt theyd make me **** about with the manfactures after only 3 months into the guarentee.

Fully star out swearing please.

What ? lol don't take we wont deal with it for an answer what they have done is illegal.

It is their legal responsibility to deal with it up to 12 months.

Do not take that lying down they are simply relying on ignorance here.

Ask to speak to a manager and refresh their memory on the law.

Thats not legal im afraid they have a obligation to resolve this as Sapphire will just direct you back to the reseller who sold it, i quote from a consumer assistance site:

The Law
When it comes to complaining about faulty goods, the Sale of Goods Act 1979 is quite specific. It deems that goods must be safe, fit the description that's given of them and be both of "satisfactory" quality and fit for the purpose for which they're intended. If they have to be installed or assembled, there should be adequate instructions. Finally, if you're shown a sample first, what you're sold must match that sample.

It's worth noting that responsibility lies with the retailer, not the manufacturer. Under the law, "retailer" is any non-private seller - even retail web sites are included.

Where delivery costs are involved, the retailer has to pay them, and repairs must be carried out within a "reasonable" time.

Spot on

I had a Samsung widescreen monitor die after two or three weeks from new. Had to deal with Samsung direct (OcUK said that was the way). Samsung had a courier out the next day to pick it up and drop off a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement was a different model (smaller). Customer service rep tried telling me it was like for like until I pointed out the serial and model number. Next day another courier came to pick it up and drop off the correct monitor.

cheers

-_- trust me i did :( I called up and got incontact with the onlines shop manager (mark??) some one or other. He was really 'helpful' and insisted I would still have to get incontact with saphire as they dont RMA items they dont sell anymore.. I said politly that it was bull**** and they still had an obligation to RMA it if it was still under the 12month guarentee. He gave me a consumer directer number, told me to phone them and hung up -_- I called the helpine and spoke to a VERY sexy sounding irish lady lol. She said if its under 12months its the retailers obligation to RMA it not mine. She said to phone sapphire and if i could send it back to them it would be easier in the long run as if i opend a dispute agaisnt sca.. um the shop.. it could take a while to get it sorted -_- I contacted sapphire (by phone) and they said they have had a lot of the same coming from the same online shop and if i could show (by recepit) when i bought the 4870x2. They would test it and send me a replacment. Just stay away from any shopping sites that have 4 letters in there name ..that start with S and end with N :) P.s They do still sell the 4870x2 but apprently the manager i spoke to dosnt know that :) YAY consumer rights.

P.s this is the 2nd 4870x2 thats gone wrong on me :'( (one in my computer and one in my mates computer i made for them) *shakes fist*

im pretty glad i bought my ram from random website i found on google, who were well nice and fast with the RMA for it, since its the only parts thats gone wrong in my machine, and i bought almost all of it from the above retailer that everyone seems to have issues with. Although all the stuff I have ever RMA'd to them has been replaced/refunded or whatever, each time.....

All the stories want me to avoid them now, and the fact that ocuk give free delivery now as well, gives me no reason not to shop here.

Unlike that other place it offers it for baskets of any value.

Great for picking up a cable sometimes and comes with the posty.

Get yourself on the sapphire forums mate and report what happened hopefully a sapphire rep will contact them about this case and put them in their place.

This is unbelievable that in this day and age this can happen there may be consumer rights but it's hard to take action as a consumer when a retailer breaches them.

I'd phone them again or send an email / letter to the big boss informing him/her about this case.

I for one will not be shopping at said place ever again in my entire life after all the complaints recently I hope everyone else follows suit.
