Hi everyone, just a quick question.

18 months ago i bought an Akasa psu off a competitor.
Last week the kids pc wouldn't start and after a quick diagnostic, it was the psu that had died.
Contacted the seller, they didn't want to know, (it was over 12 months)
so i just chanced my luck and contacted Akasa.
It turns out they have a 3 year warranty with psu's :)

so after sending my details, i get an rma number and send off the psu.
Today i got confirmation, they are going to replace it. :):)

My question is.
Can i claim back the postage?
i am not really that bothered, as i am happy to get a new psu, but £10 is still £10 ;)

After RMA'ing some memory and two hard drives which were all replaced, I was not able to reclaim any of the postage costs.
But it will not do any harm to send them an e-mail asking for the postage back.

I'm not too sure with dealing directly with the manufacturer but with rma to seller if it's faulty you get the delivery cost refunded(dependent on the seller you may have to chase them up/they may try fobbing you off but seem to recall reading you're entitled to the refund).

as said contact them and ask, plus I'm sure someone with more legal knowledge will be along at some point.

Most of the time they won't refund the postage back to them but send out the replacement item and cover the shipping for that....

When I returned my OCZ PSU they upgraded it from a normal to a modular PSU which was a nice surprise not sure if Akasa do anything like that. :p

OcUK don't refund postage. I've had to send back a few things and they said they would refund the postage due to the item being faulty or wrong... I can't quite remember. It happened twice or something, bad memory. I never received a refund though. So... You might need to chase them up. I never bothered in the end. I suppose that's what they want you to do. Forget about it.

I've always resented having to pay postage on returns/RMA's when the item is faulty. It's different if you decide you don't want it. Then that's your problem. However, no way should you pay to post back a faulty item.

I am currently awaiting answer from ECC, Europeans Consumer Center in London. After speaking to a lawyer working at the danish ECC I filed a complaint on OC UK through them for not wanting to refund costs for shipping faulty items back to them.

According to the ECC the Seller is obligated to refund all shipping/transportation costs to a Buyer if the item sold is RMA'ed and deemed faulty. OC UK pretty much says f.... you when you ask them to oblige with law in regards to transportation costs outside of GB. So I would just advice buying from a seller that you know would refund you if you had large expenses due to a RMA.

So far I've had only 1 faulty item with OCUK and they have refunded me the postage costs as well.
I did discuss this in the support ticket for the RMA and agreed before sending the item.
All I had to do was to send them picture of proof of postage from Royal mail!

ild be interested to find out where we stand considering it cost me £35 to send a psu which exploded back to corsair last week... that hurt to spend that much on £110 psu

Exactly my experience with ocers - no problem with a refund on postage for an agreed faulty or damaged in transit item. Can't fault ocers myself - that is why I shop here.

thanks guys, i am going to wait until i recieve it, and then try for the postage costs.
all they can say is no.;)

I see there are a few people asking about rights regarding return/RMA.

The rules are quite clear. If you regret the buy and send it back to the seller and ask for a refund only then you have no right to claim that the seller refund the shipping costs for sending the item back.

If you RMA the item and ask for a replacement/repair the seller has to refund you for the shipping costs to send the item back to them, regardless of which country you are in compared to the seller.

In all European countries you can contact European Consumer Center to file a claim with them against a seller. This is the English based center : http://www.ukecc.net/

might want to try readig the op again ;)

his question is not regarding a new purchase or rma'ing with the seller.

it has already been mentioned a few times about the law regarding the refund under dsr and faulty goods.

oh and not sure about akasa but it appears with asrock(send to the netherlands) you have to cover the cost to them and for them to return it back to you, ge3000 had to send his extreme4 gen3 to them as ocuk refused the rma(and charged him £22 for the privalge) and asrock asked for 25 euros/£15 to cover the postage back to him). I'm in the same situation as him with my extreme7(ocuk have rejected my rma and charged me £22, plus I paid £13 to send it to them so I am £35 out of pocket. oh and I've already mention as an added 'bonus' I got called a liar by the rma guy I spoke to), sending to asrock will cost me ~£35(~£20 to send to them and £15 for the return) if they agree to rma my mb(not contacted them yet).
