RMA to Intel

Just wondering if anyone has had to deal with Intel direct before? What sort of timescale am i looking at and was there a lengthy process to setup the RMA?

Just that i have a CPU I purchased a year or so ago, but never used it till the other day, a pentium 5200. I have tried it in two boards and nothing, fans spin, no beeps or post.

Replace with my Q9450 and both boards fire up fine. The place where i got it from say they only deal with the 1st year and after that I have to deal with Intel direct, which is fine with me. Just waiting now:rolleyes:

Just received an email from them, just need to call DHL to pick it up. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long from now, pretty painless so far.
Looks like they have a part all ready for the swap cos i have serial and ATPO numbers for the replacement part.

A few people I have spoken too had said that they had never had a bad cpu, so this was unknown territory.
Going to call DHL in the morning about picking it up, as Intel have even sent me their account number.
Having read some horror stories on this forum lately about the reseller not even sending the goods away to the manufacturer, I wasn't too bothered about dealing directly with Intel, so far I'm impressed and will report back with any progress reports.

I never heard of any problems dealing with Intel RMAs. Some people had gotten their CPUs replaced out of warranty, many were missing receipts or even boxes. Afaik the RMA service is dealt through Ireland.

Regarding GPUs, they tend to have much shorter longevity and significantly higher number of RMAs at their basis.

I deal with them all the time but i am an IPP so we get AWR etc.. so its completely different. From what i recall tho its not such a painful procedure if you have the reciept.

Phoned DHL on thursday, who picked up the CPU around 2 hours later and today I received the replacement!

Really impressed with that, it seems that sometimes you might be better off dealing directly with the manufacturer.

The only time I ever had to RMA to Intel, I had exactly the same experience, couldn't have been less painful.;)
