Just got an M12ii 750W Seasonic, i'm pretty sure it is too noisy but there is a small part of me that thinks I am expecting too much from it. They are supposed to idle at 25dB and boast that is just above natural white noise at 20dB. I would say my old HX520 would do this but this new supply is way over the noise of that.

I have 3 options

1, Send it back to the e-shop as faulty (Though they might say noise is subjective and that it is fine, send it back to me with a €20 fee and i will have lost another €20 in packaging)

2, Send it back under a "cooling off period" (The shop says the item must not have been used though and I had to take off some non resealable packaging, if used I will receive a "reduced refund")

3, Send it to Seasonic, I got an email back from them after I questioned the fan noise to RMA it to them (Though I dont know about test fees and RMA postage as I have never had to do this before)

(This was not an OCUK purchase, I live in Ireland and thought (stupidly) that it would be less hassle to sort if anything went wrong to get it over here)

Sooooo, what would you do if you were in this situation?

Thanks all

If you have a smartphone, download sound meter and see what sort of reading you get. It will give you a rough idea of the dB level. Just make sure the room has no background noise (TV, Open window etc).

If it is way over the expected level then at least you know your ears are working properly :D

I would speak to the retailer as the contract is with them.

OK just dropped my R9 290 in there and now the PSU is pulling a decent load it spools up like a jet engine.

Its not the GPU as the fans go back to near silent as soon as I stop gaming, but the PSU stays noisy for a long time after :(.

Has anyone had any RMA experience with Seasonic (UK/Europe)?

quote this to the e-shop and say seasonic says they (e-shop) have to replace it as they supplied it, and see what the e-shop replies
