Hi,

I bought a Titan Xenomorph on the 16/07/10 and had it bundled with an XFX 5830 1024MB graphics card. Unfortunately that was also the day the GTX460 became readily available to be bundled in with the system. I spoke to OCUK and asked if I could send back the 5830 for a 460 (both £179.99 at the time) and was told this was not an option and that I had to send back the 5830 and get a refund, with which I could buy my self a 460.

Long story short, I posted the 5830 off today but I am being told my refund will be £144 including VAT! As this is the price it cost them to put into the system. So even though my receipt says I paid £152.33 excl. VAT - I am only going to receive a total of £144 in exchange for my 5830.

Can someone please tell me how this makes any sense? Why am I being refunded what obviously seems to be OCUK's trade price? I cannot get my head around it...any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Chris.

I have a hard copy of the invoice that was shipped with the system, but it shows no price breakdown component by component. But online it shows the price of the 5830 as £152.33 excluding VAT.

I am so not impressed by this! Getting £144 back, not enough to buy even one of the cheapest 5830's! Ridiculous!

I initially contacted them on the 18/07, 2 days after purchasing the system. And they finally set up my RMA on the 24/07. I purchased the system on 16/07.

It is. I need to speak to them and not use this Web Note system whereby different people deal with you and don't know the full history of the complaint! The call centre isn't open by the time I get home normally! :(

Any OCUK staff on here, viewing this? lol

Surely if the 5830 was bundled with a pre-built system, it would have cost you less then the retail price for an individual card.

If you add all the parts in your system to the basket as individual parts do they cost the same, less or more than what you paid for the system?

Unless your invoice clearly states the price as £152.33 excl. VAT for the 5830, I see nothing wrong.

Did you buy the system in store?
Or did you buy it over the internet? If it was bought over the internet why did you not change your order before dispatch?

Here is the only real price breakdown there is, nothing mentioned on the paper invoice sent with the system:

Bought it over the internet. It was dispatched before the change took place! Was a massive case of me just being very unlucky!

Thank you. I think it only fair! Another Web Note has been sent, I will try and get a direct line so I can discuss the matter further instead of having to web note!

Wow. I have just received the following reply:

"the refund is based usually on the price of the component at our cost. obviously the margin for components is defferent when they are purchased as part of a system build.

unless you purchased the system over a month ago then the refund will be the cost of the item minus the usage [partial refund based on the warranty of the item]"

And that's it. So I am to be refunded cost price of the graphics card, and not the price I have been invoiced for or that I actually paid for it (including their mark-up). Can anyone please explain to me how that is in any way fair?

Remind me not to order from OCUK again, jesus...so if I was to return my entire Titan Xenomorph system I would get the summation of the cost price of all the components then? Ridiculous.

I might do, it is only a matter of £34.98 but it's the principal! I wanted to buy a GTX 460 for £180 so could've done with a refund of the actual price I paid!

I go and order a system and 24in monitor from them within a week and they go and do this! Definitely not using OCUK again, shame as they have been really good in the past! :(

Its terrible. And I am getting very frustrated with this Web Note system! Grrr...come on OCUK!

Can anyone find any terms & conditions relating to systems on the website? I'd like to look into the usage of a component and how they are able to refund their cost of the item etc.

I am quite tempted to just send the system and monitor back, its kind of a matter of principal! I would like what I paid (what I have been invoiced for!) refunded!

I will try to contact Gibbo, he only lists an MSN address and I can't seem to PM him. Are there any other OCUK staff on here that I can contact?

*sigh*

Unfortunately I was so irate with OCUK I bought a 460 elsewhere! I wish Gibbo was dealing with my complaint from the beginning instead of being copied and pasted the same replies to web notes over and over and having my questions going unanswered time after time!

I have tried, and it looks like I am just going to be refunded a measly £144. Which ****es me off massively and as a result I have bought a 460 from another company even though I would have preferred to use OCUK.

Thanks to Gibbo for at least offering me something/trying to help, that's more than anyone I sent a web note do was willing to do! Gibbo has offered me cost price on a future purchase on OCUK, which appeases me a little bit. Shame I've already forked out for a system and 24in monitor from them and don't need anything atm! lol
