Hi there, just wondered if anyone has successfully rma'd a faulty graphics card that they changed the cooler on. I've put the origional back on but I guess its not that difficult to tell that it has been taken off at some point.

If your rma succeeded (or was refused) I'd be interested to know, especially if it was an EVGA card (also how long it took). Thanks!

Isnt EVGA the only company that doesnt invalidate warranty with removed HSF?

Either way I doubt they'll check closely enough to see if it has been changed.

I'd heard this before, however their warranty conditions state that any card that has been "physically modified" cannot be processed, so I don't think its true.

So annoying though, the 8800gt spins up like a jet engine and ran ridiculously hot, putting the thermaltake gt heatsink on it pretty much halved temps and passively! It was a no brainer to get but now I'm a bit worried I'll lose the cash for this stupid rule. As long as the card wasnt damaged through changing cooler it shouldnt invalidate warranty :/

Be interested to see what this thread uncovers.

if you've put the original cooler back on its highly unlikely they'll know you changed it out for an aftermarket one.
